How To Use The Ovu-Tec Fertility Detector

Remove top, hold the eyepiece and gently tug and pull to remove from unit. Do NOT unscrew or unthread the eyepiece.

Note ; The Eyepiece Should Come Out
as One Unit. Do Not Unscrew It.

Place saliva on the slide area using a clean fingertip. Let dry 5-7 minutes.

Replace eyepiece in unit.

Depress illuminator switch on side of unit & turn eyepiece to focus. Analyze the Saliva.

Introduction

During a woman's monthly cycle there are only a few days when she is potentially fertile. The egg matures in approximately the middle of this cycle. Since the lifetime of both the egg and sperm is short (a period of less than 6 days) you can easily learn to identify the time when you are most fertile.

The hormonal changes prior to, during, and after ovulation have a direct effect on dried saliva patterns. Samples of dried (crystallized) saliva during the different stages of the cycle may be easily observed under a microscope. During fertile days the sample of dried saliva will resemble "ferns," while during non-fertile days only shapeless dotted structures will be visible. Ovu-Tec may easily be used to monitor and identify these changes in the dried saliva patterns. The simple to use instructions and portability of the unit make this an attractive product for assisting with family planning.

Analysis of Saliva - Detection of Fertility

During fertile days a sample of saliva looks like "ferns," during the non-fertile days only shapeless "dotted" structures may be seen. "Fern" structures start 3-4 days before ovulation and end 2-3 days after ovulation occurs. The fertile period lasts less than one week. In addition to clearly "dotted" or "fern" patterns, the saliva sample may appear to be a combination of the two images. This is called a "transition" pattern. During this period, it may be possible that the woman is fertile. If you do not become pregnant during the indicated periods and wish to become pregnant, it is recommended that you consult a physician.

WARNINGS

  • The quality of saliva specimen may be affected by smoking, alcohol consumption, medications, or food consumption.
  • It is recommended not to do the test until 2 hours after smoking, eating, or drinking.
  • The manufacturer and/or reseller cannot be responsible for incorrect interpretation of results.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Keep the unit away from dust, humidity, or extreme temperatures.
  • Carefully clean the round slide surface after each use using a cotton swab soaked with water or alcohol. Be careful not to scratch the glass.
  • Do not wash or soak the eyepiece as water may be trapped between the lens and the slide.
